Glory, honour and power. These are all things that people want. Last night I had dinner with two friends and we were chatting about being tai tais or the male version of it next time. My friend said that although he wouldn’t mind being provided for by his wife, he would still want to work because a male tai tai may have money but not power. This is generally true of people especially guys. When you are working and have a career, you can be in control of your subordinates. Even though you are yourself under control and to many you will just look like another office worker, another face in the crowd, perhaps unless you are someone really powerful like Obama or Lee Kuan Yew. But people who strive for just tell themselves not to think about that and keep living in their lie.

It would be wise for us to be like the Roman centurion in Luke 7:1-10, recognising especially his words in v. 8: “For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” Romans 13:1 says “for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.” Two kings (at least) refused to recognise that they themselves were placed in high positions of authority under God’s authority: Belshazzar, king of Babylon (see his story in Daniel 5) and Herod Agrippa I, Roman-appointed king of the Jews (see his story in Acts 12:1-24). And finally God judged them.

O Father, may we recognise our place here in your Earth, that we too are but people under authority and all are accountable to You. Father will you come and open up our eyes.

I want to eat lots of jap food, dim sum, seafood, good hawker food (like my or luak which I’ve planned to find for 5 months), good zi char etc etc. Hope I’ll have the money to eat all that, and can’t wait for Gerry’s cooking next saturday! Am starting off with dim sum today with my family and HT.

4 weeks internship at AGC in July, on top of two weeks at TRC starting next next week. Very long leh!

Very, very true. Have experienced it so many times, like when a friend sends me a very timely sms the night before exams with a verse that speaks exactly to how I am feeling, and you know that this rhema word is from God. Most recently, on Fri night before my Public Law paper when I was getting very stressed up and felt like giving up, my BSF group leader, without me telling her about my exams or when they are, messaged me 2 Chronicles 20:17. Very thankful for such people who surrender their lives to God to be used for times such as this.
